Restaurants in Chamonix

Chamonix: Restaurants Chamonix is a cosmopolitan resort attracting visitors from all over Europe. Inevitably it boasts many excellent restaurants. These are a few of our personal favourites:

L'Atmosphere

Located at 123 place Balmatin Chamonix Centre, L'Atmosphere is very popular amongst the locals. The restaurant is open for lunch, and offers two sittings in the evening on the interior covered terrace. The consistently excellent food unites French gastronomy with the simplicity of Savoyard cuisine. The smoked salmon, turbot béarnaise, and tarte tatin are all excellent choices. The wine cellar is equally worthy of mention, with a bewildering array of over 300 different wines. It is recommended you book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Le Hameau Albert 1er

Located at 119 impasse de Montenvers in Chamonix centre, The Hameau de Albert is home to the two Michelin star restaurant, the Albert Premier. Using fresh local ingredients, you can choose from the à la carte menu or from one of the set menus. Hearty winter dishes are served, such as noisette of venison with pumpkin risotto or spring and summer options like young lamb with wild garlic and niçois stuffed vegetables. The wine cellar counts no less than 20 000 bottles, comprised of the 950 appellations presented on the wine list. Whether you choose to blow the budget on the à la carte or stick to the amazingly priced set menus, you are sure to experience one of the finest meals in the Chamonix valley.

Hotel Eden Restaurant

Located in a quiet corner of Les Praz (not far from the Flegere cable car station) is Hotel Eden. You can expect attention to detail from amuse bouche starters through to the miniature meringues served with coffee. The food is a wonderful combination of contemporary and classic French cuisine, from pan-fried foie gras with hazelnuts and fresh figs to seafood pot au feu, with tomato and fresh dill bouillon. The Hotel Eden restaurant is open for dinner every evening apart from Tuesdays and it is always advisable to book. Children are very welcome and there’s even a special fixed price menu just for them.

L'Auberge du Bois Prin

Located at Les Moussoux in Chamonix Nord facing the Mont Blanc is L'Auberge du Bois Prin.

Delicious and inventive recipes such as: stewed chicken with walnut wine and foie gras with wild berries. The vegetables and flowers are freshly cultivated from their gardens. Savoyarde dishes are a speciality here with a huge selection of regional cheeses. The Mondeuse, Ayze and Roussette wines are highly recommended.
