Bars and Clubs in Chamonix

Chamonix: Bars and Clubs Chamonix is one of the liveliest resorts in the Alps. There is a wide range of watering holes to choose from. Here are a few of our personal favourites:

The Jekyll

Located next to the main bus stop and bowling alley in Chamonix Sud, The Jeckyll is a lively Irish Bar with a great restaurant. Perfect for après ski drinks with great happy hour deals and live music. From 7pm The Jekyll turns into an atmospheric restaurant well known for its Lambshank or Irish Lamb Stew. After dinner the music is turned up with sounds of guest DJ's or live music and The Jekyll becomes a late night party venue. Look out for their regular comedy nights or try a cocktail or shooter in 'The Hyde', their downstairs bar.

Le Privilége

Located at Rue des Moulins, Le Privilége is one of one of Chamonix's chicest bars. The bar is spacious yet intimate with an abundance of comfortable seating. There are regular live bands, international Dj’s, and regular theme nights. They serve a tempting array of wines, beers, and cocktails. During the summer Le Privilege has a terrace at the front for al fresco drinking.

O'Byrne's Bar

Located downstairs at the Hotel Vallée Blanche, you’ll find the Irish Bar O'Byrne's. This relaxing bar has a fine selection of beers, malt whiskies and cigars. The music is often jazz and blues classics with live music from a Celtic group once a week. During the warmer months there is an outside terrace by the riverside.

La Terrasse

Chamonix's most central bar, Located at Place Balmat. La Terrasse has 2 floors of entertainment, 7 days a week. Downstairs a busy bar with live music 7 days a week and upstairs a lounge and cocktail bar with a beautiful original art nouveau conservatory. The après ski starts at 4 pm offering reduced prices on pitchers of beer, vin chaud and toffee vodka. You can also watch the big sporting events downstairs via satellite.

La Cantina

Located at 37, impasse des Rhododendrons, La Cantina regularly brings in DJ's from around the world, as well as several local bands. Downstairs the music is selection of salsa, hip-hop, drum n bass, groove, and dub in the small but highly-charged club. The restaurant upstairs serves authentic Mexican cuisine including fajitas, enchiladas, nachos, and delicious steaks. There are also a variety of vegetarian dishes to choose from.
